IPL 2026 Points Table

Men and Women | 2024 & 2025 & 2026 Seasons

The IPL 2026 Points Table is your live snapshot of the tournament. It shows where every team stands right now, how many points they’ve collected, and what they need to do to stay in the playoff race. Because the league table can shift after every match, the points table is the quickest way to track momentum—especially when multiple teams are separated by just a point or two.

On this page, you can view standings for both competitions:

  • Men (IPL) — the main IPL league table
  • Women (WPL) — the women’s standings in the same clean format

Use the Category dropdown to switch between Men and Women, and the Season dropdown to select 2026. Just below, you’ll also see Tournament dates and Last updated, so you know the timeframe covered and when the standings were refreshed.

How points are awarded in IPL 2026

The points system is simple and match-driven:

  • Win: 2 points
  • Loss: 0 points
  • No Result (NR): 1 point each (usually due to a washout/abandoned match)

That’s why even one no-result can matter late in the season—it can keep teams within touching distance of the top spots.

How to read our IPL 2026 Points Table

Each row represents one team, and each column helps explain why they’re placed where they are.

Column-by-column guide

  • POS — Current position in the standings (rank)
  • TEAM — Team name/abbreviation with logo
  • P — Matches played
  • W — Matches won
  • L — Matches lost
  • NR — No result (abandoned/washed out games with points shared)
  • NRR — Net Run Rate (the most common tie-breaker when points are equal)
  • PTS — Total points earned so far
  • RECENT FORM — A quick view of the team’s latest results:
    • ✅ win
    • ❌ loss
    • N no result

Why “Recent Form” is useful

Points show your overall position, but recent form shows trajectory. A team with a strong streak can climb quickly, while teams with repeated losses often slip even if they started well. When the table is tight, this “form line” becomes a great indicator of confidence and consistency.

Net Run Rate (NRR): what it means and why it’s crucial

When teams finish on the same number of points, rankings often come down to Net Run Rate (NRR).

NRR is a season-long measure of performance margins—how strongly you win and how heavily you lose. You don’t need the formula to use it, but you should know what it signals:

  • Positive NRR usually means a team is winning comfortably and/or losing narrowly.
  • Negative NRR often indicates big defeats, narrow wins, or a generally weaker run across matches.

This is why teams sometimes chase targets faster than necessary or try to restrict opponents heavily—because even when points are equal, NRR can decide who finishes higher and who misses out.

What happens when teams are tied on points?

Late in the season, it’s common for multiple teams to end up level on points. In those situations, the league uses tie-breakers to determine final positions.

Most commonly:

  • Net Run Rate (NRR) becomes the key separator.
  • Additional criteria may apply depending on the tournament rules (for example, certain head-to-head or win-based measures).

The takeaway is straightforward: points get you in the race, NRR can decide the finishing order.

Why finishing higher matters: the playoff advantage

The points table isn’t only about qualifying—it’s also about how you qualify.

In the men’s IPL format, teams typically aim for a top-four finish to reach the playoffs. From there, the teams at the top usually receive a path advantage compared to teams scraping in at the bottom of the playoff zone.

That’s why the battle for the top positions stays intense even after qualification is nearly secured:

  • Finishing higher can mean a better route through the playoff bracket.
  • The top places are often rewarded with more flexibility if a team has one off day.

So even if a team has already “almost qualified,” you’ll often see them pushing hard to lock in the best possible finish.

Men (IPL) and Women (WPL): same table logic, different race

This page presents Men (IPL) and Women (WPL) standings in the same clear structure—points, NRR, and form—so you can read both tables instantly without learning a new layout.

What can differ between competitions is the overall tournament format (such as number of teams, total matches, and playoff structure). But the key table logic stays consistent:

  • PTS reflects results
  • NRR breaks ties
  • Recent Form shows momentum

If you’re switching between Men and Women standings, the Category selector makes it one click.

How often is the IPL 2026 standings table updated?

The standings change throughout the season, and each result can shift the order—especially in the mid-table. Our table is designed to reflect the latest movement as quickly as possible, with a visible Last updated indicator so you always know how current the rankings are.

How to read these matchup probabilities

These are single-match, neutral-venue win probabilities derived from the same history-only baseline strength used above. We convert baseline team strengths into head-to-head odds using a proportional model:

P(A beats B) = A_strength / (A_strength + B_strength)

Where A_strength and B_strength are the baseline values behind the title-odds tables, so the numbers stay consistent across the page.
